Sanchit Goel

Very often you people find themselves at the crossroads during their career, where either they can choose the ride the wave or carve a new path for themselves. After graduating from electrical and electronics engineering, Sanchit has never thought what would be the future. He went on to complete his master’s degree in international marketing and then worked across various domains gaining some experience.

Soon afterwards, things took turn for good when he along with his friend wrote a book, which got published. However, they both have to face the brunt of this publishing industry, which gave them an idea of starting a platform to facilitate young writers. This is where PepperScript was as an independent publishing unit focused on promoting both fresh and experienced writers by bringing out good content in the market. They aim at become one of the prominent publishing platform where young talent can come and highlight their work.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/ service.

PepperScript is a new age publishing company, publishing books in English and Hindi languages. PepperScript provides all services from book evaluation, editing, design, development, production, distribution and marketing to an author. In this booming book industry, where every second person wants to write, it is important to have a company that writers can depend on, trust for justice to their work.

Also, to make it really crispy PepperScript has launched PepperScript Comics for comic lovers and enthusiasts. These are not just any comics- the very rare and nostalgic Cartoon Network and Sab Tv comics.

What inspired you to build the above product/ service?

My co-founder and I had written a book ‘The Bachelors Theorem’ and got in published in 2011. Everything seemed fine until we got into the thick and thin of the industry. We were highly unsatisfied and later in 2012 decided to make a better platform for all young and aspiring writers.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

The journey so far has been challenging at every moment. Every challenge has been gracefully accepted but the most intensive part has been to streamline and plan the budget every time any incomes have come in. Being intensively involved in your enterprise urges you to try new things every day but with limited sources it is kind of difficult to follow your daily dreams. Thus it is challenging that you take control of it and make right decisions, and we have made wrong decisions.

Another aspect has been acceptance of delayed failure. One is when you know you have failed soon after you started, second is you work hard long enough and then after months you find out you have failed. The realization of how much time you invested in it is as good as a killer.

How did you overcome those challenges?

With support from family and friends, unnecessary talk among ourselves, impractical dreaming, sledging, harder and smarter work.

Share some details about the investments that you have been able to fetch for the business till now.

PepperScript has not raised any investments yet. The support from our families has been incredible.

How do you protect yourself from the problem of Brain Drain?

PepperScript has a small team and the work is well divided so effectively the responsibilities per head are more. There are times when work load is so much that there is no time for any sort of ‘Brain Drain’ but on other unwanted occasions, we talk it out. I have always been clear with Team PepperScript that whatever it is, just vomit it out on my face. Also, there is enough space for everyone to laugh and cry and fight.

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

Google apps for business- easy and google!

One mistake every individual must avoid is to not make any mistake. Making mistakes is the essence of life.

One most important lesson that you have learnt till now:

Change is inevitable.

What are your plans for next 3 years?

Our absolute focus is on publishing great books and popularizing the verticals of PepperScript. Give due space to the national language via ‘Kaksh’, a hindi language publishing imprint of PepperScript; publish some great comics and make PepperScript global.

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

Firstly, I am pretty sure that a chance like this is not coming my way. Secondly, if I were to start my career differently I would need to be a different person. Thirdly, if at all I could do something different, I would not vote for AAP, even the first time.

What are your top three getaway destinations?

Mussoorie is definitely one of them, and I am yet to discover the rest.

Share a quote that inspires you the most.

Hope is beautiful.
