What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Researching, learning, trial & error, adapting, progressing, and repeating to nurture our business investments on top of an already hectic schedule has tested and stretched my capacity, adaptability, and capability as a business owner and person on many occasions.

How did you overcome initial mindset challenges?

I remind myself that all the challenges I’m going through are a part of the process and are not more significant than my purpose or progress. I take a moment and close my eyes, focus on my breathing, and recalibrate my thoughts to regain my psychological buoyancy when challenges arise.

iTechnolabs Business Interview on Yo!Success

Pankaj Arora, Founder, and CEO at iTechnolabs Inc. Being a technology enthusiast, he always stays abreast with the latest technological advances.

Over the course of almost ten years of working in product development, IT services, and project management ― He has demonstrated his ability to create impressive business ventures that are profitable at a global level. His experience also extends to handling business requirements for industries such as health care, finance, and eCommerce. Additionally, he strives to inspire his employees and colleagues through motivation and leadership.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/service?

iTechnolabs is a Software development company that offers an extensive range of IT services and is well equipped with advanced technologies and highly skilled professionals. As a result of our reliable services, we help facilitate seamless interactions with customers in order to generate more sales.

A straightforward concept guided the company’s founding – to provide quality IT services that give satisfaction to creating value IT products. As a company, we strive to introduce new products and features that help individuals and businesses achieve their goals.

Staying up-to-date with the ever-changing trends of technology is one of our team’s major objectives. Hence, we are committed to building a brand that provides customers with full payment, shopping, and communication solutions in the future.

What inspired you to build the above product/service?

After graduating from university, I was expected to join my family’s business. However, I was convinced that Information Technology will be the future, and being part of the tech ecosystem that is full of inspirational new-age entrepreneurs, I was convinced that it is the perfect opportunity to gain knowledge. My passion and interest in the IT industry lead me to be open-minded to learning new things. Starting with web development, I became curious to explore more and learn about product development. Following some experience in the industry and identifying unaddressed issues within the online community and digital marketing, I found iTechnolabs Inc to fill the gap I thought existed in this space.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

As with most startups, laying the foundation for a new business entails many challenges. One of the biggest challenges, especially in the early stages, is finding the right people, mentoring them, and creating a collaborative team of individuals that are eager to grow together and individually.

Creating a work environment that fosters constructive competition, comradeship, and a healthy work-life balance requires patience on the part of the product owner.

How did you overcome initial mindset challenges?

Honestly, it’s like starting anything from scratch, whether you are building a new routine, tackling a new challenge, or directing your own company. Despite the fear of failure, there is also the drive to go the extra mile, step by step, day by day. I am currently focusing on strategy, which requires understanding our clients’ needs, communicating our services, and applying our expertise, collaboration, and research to ensure successful campaigns and projects.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

In my opinion, entrepreneurs should not limit themselves from evolving their business, especially during times of low productivity.

Starting a business requires entrepreneurs to stay current with the latest technologies and trends relevant to their specific industry.

For individuals to remain relevant within an industry, they should consider ways to demonstrate their value beyond their typical services.

What is your life mantra?

It’s not what you cannot do, but what you can do. So, give your all!

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

Aside from Skype and Gmail, I browse Product Hunt, Forbes, and Entrepreneur forums to learn more about new business strategies.

Share any one habit which you think makes you more productive.

I am always open to hearing other people’s opinions with an open mind. It always helps me learn new things or expand my knowledge with a new perspective.

Share any one habit that you wish to change in yourself.

Sometimes, I find it difficult to be patient. It frustrates me when family, friends, or colleagues delay making important life decisions. The tendency to take too long to act often results in people missing out on many excellent opportunities. In spite of this, I am attempting to become more patient.

What are your plans for the next 3 years?

As a company, our goal is to become the most trusted IT software partner for as many companies as possible while introducing solutions that have never existed before.

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

As a self-financing business startup, I learned some valuable lessons after establishing the business that I wish I had known before I began operations. Besides, it would have been helpful if I had explored social media advertising earlier.

What are your top three gateway destinations?

USA, Australia and  London

I am a family man, an entrepreneur of more than 20 years, and Holder of Bachelor of Commerce Retail & Logistics Management honors degree & MSc Strategic Management (Dissertation Level). I am the promoter behind ShopExpress.

Please provide a brief overview of your product/service?

ShopExpress is an online grocery shopping store offering convenience services to consumers in Zimbabwe, allowing people from the country, and Zimbabwean expats living across the world, order conveniently in just a few clicks and order groceries for their friends and family in Harare. It follows an agile delivery process that delivers on time using a collaborative delivery system to reach customers’ doorsteps in Harare. Shopping on ShopExpress is easy and it offers a satisfying experience. There is an option to pay with multiple payment methods. ShopExpress also lets you share your shopping on social media.

What inspired you to build the above product/service?

My family has business ventures in retail chain supermarkets. In order to keep up with the ever-changing retail trends, I realized the need to diversify into different services channels. By doing so I could meet changing consumer needs and expectations.

I was convinced that the future is in digital services, so with vast knowledge of the retail industry, I identified unaddressed issues within the tech B2B and B2C community in line with the trends the world over. I created ShopExpress supermarket that provided what I felt was missing in the retail sector marketing space.

What was the most challenging part of your journey till now?

Finding people with the right mindset, who are motivated and ready to learn, and who appreciate the scope of the new business has been the biggest challenge. In fact, not just finding them, but guiding them and fashioning a team that wants to grow together and deliver on the goals as one, is challenging

Also, finding a balance on a healthy work-life balance takes time and requires a lot of patience as a family person and the product owner.

How did you overcome initial mindset challenges?

This was a new frontier in the retail dimension for me which needed a few computer skills. The drive to see the project through and succeed allayed my fears of failure. I had to learn a lot of new stuff over a short period and take one step at a time as the project evolved. Having done my background research for the product, I appreciated the potential it had and what I needed to do to make it a reality.

According to you, what are the three qualities an individual must have to achieve success?

  • Optimism
  • Passion
  • Persistence

What is your life mantra?

All things work together for good.

Which online tools/ services/ apps do you use the most and would like to recommend as well?

  • YouTube
  • Gmail
  • Skype

Share any one habit which you think makes you more productive.

Always diarize tasks and attend to external issues first and then deal with your challenging stuff without interference.

Share any one habit that you wish to change in yourself.

Sometimes I spent too much time in detail, at the expense of the overall progress of the task at hand.

What are your plans for the next 3 years?

  • To grow Shopexpress internal capabilities.
  • Develop competitive advantages and differentiated services.
  • Maintain steady market growth and product equity

If you get a chance to start your career again what would you do differently this time?

I wish I had better social media skills.

What are your top three gateway destinations?

Paris, New York & Tokyo
